On Wednesday, June 11 at 5:30 PM in Market Square, JAZZAM will be bringing down “The Roof” of the city of Pittsburgh at the Three Rivers Arts Festival.
The Mission of the Arts Fest is to connect the community to the Arts and JAZZAM is proud to be a part of this mission. From June 6 to 22, 2008, the Three Rivers Arts Festival will bring nearly600,000 people to the streets of Downtown Pittsburgh to experience music, dance, theater, visual art, crafts, and family activities.
Here’s the show information for all our fans. Hope to see you there!

Here’s the scoop: there’s a spot at ALL GOOD that could be JAZZAM’s.
Sounds good, right? Unfortunately, the organizers might mistakenly think they want some other band.
But you guys know that they don’t!
You guys are the best fans in the world, and we wouldn’t be playing anywhere if not for all of you.
You do so much for us, but we still need to ask a favor: we need all of you to tell these guys how much JAZZAM rocks! Click on this link to go to All Good’s MySpace, then post a comment, send ‘em a message, do whatever you can to let ‘em know what you know: All Good’s gonna be a whole lot, uh… gooder with Jazzam in the line up!
- JAZZAM!
Funk, Funk, Funk - Funk It Up!
JAZZAM will be funking out Zeno’s Pub in Penn State (State College, PA) this Thursday, June 5 (and almost every Thursday afterwards). And, Friday, June 6 will be a funkadelic night in Clarksburg, West Virginia at PJ Kelly’s.

JAZZAM is a regional touring funk jazz jam band originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area. Check out their stuff on MySpace!
JAZZAM at ROCK for DOCS at the Higher Ground in Burlington, VT.
This Saturday, April 12, St. Alban’s Common Ground Youth Center presents a Benefit Concert for the international humanitarian organization Doctors without Borders//Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). It will be held in the Showcase Lounge of the Higher Ground Music Theater in Burlington, VT.
Learn more about Doctors without Border. If you would like to donate prior to the concert, you can do so on their online donation page.
The doors open at 6, music at 6:30. You can get tickets off the Higher Ground’s Web site and they cost $17 in advance, 20 at the door. It’s an ALL Ages show and the proceeds go to a great place, so you absolutely can’t miss this show!

Concert line-up includes:
- Jazzam
- High Energy Funk and Jazz fusion based out of Pittsburgh. Jazzam creates a remarkably unique groove that ventures into soul, rock, R&B, jazz, and world music. Their latest album, It’s About Time, was recorded live and brings you a taste of the band’s super-tight show. Equally impressive vocally or musically, Jazzam has something for everyone in their splendid sound. Rollicking bass lines, spirited guitar, keyboard, and horn solos, and intense vocals are just some of the building blocks of their texturally diverse music.
- Avi & Celia
- Schooled in tradition but not afraid to blur boundaries, soul-folk duet Avi & Celia are striking matches and catchin’ wind. Simmering with bending, blue-tinged melodies, Celia’s voice bonds with Avi’s colorful guitar creations and compelling harmony. Their sound is delivered with the essence of rock ‘n roll and rooted in the traditions of folk, bluegrass, and blues.
- The Dirtminers
- Seven Days’ Dan Bolles calls the Dirtminers music “quirky, riff-laden pop” while Northeast Performer says “Dirtminers are in their own musical category,” combining rock, country, blues and pop into a peculiar sonic stew. The band features the musical talents of Ron Rost, Matt Rogalsky, Michael Corn, Jeff LaBossiere and leader/songwriter Raph Worrick.
- Farm
- These three guys from Franklin County lead one of this year’s most-talked-about local bands. Here’s why: “Gray Birds” filters in and out of Neil Young-ish Americana, low-fi indie-pop and flat-out rock with a style (demonstrated over a sprawling 18-song, 75-minute disc) that’s always cohesive, never cobbled-together.
- Lights Out
- Boston based, this band combines members from around the country, with influences of hip hop, jazz, and techno.
- The Breaking In
- Hailing from the East and West side. This Texas Hill 2-piece can testify and drive a primitive lo-fi sound to kill dawn on bended knee.“The Breaking In craft a lean, mean rock style that’s impossible to ignore.”
–Ethan Covey , Seven Days“The Breaking In is not your father’s adult-contemporary Oldsmobile. Defying the conventional confines of age and good taste, the duo’s live performances are a sight to behold”
- Pete & the Meat Whistle
- Pete and the Meat whistle carry the sound of a hammer pounding nails, and glass breaking on a barroom floor. The two man power duo will get any crowd rollin’ and tumblin’. The steady, hard-driving, backbeat of the drums, and the crunch of the guitar create a very powerful and addicting sound.

Find out more about Boombox:
BoomBox is producer/DJ Russ Randolph and singer/songwriter/guitarist Zion Rock Godchaux. This pair of dynamic artists uses their rich musical history and their vision of music and popular culture to deliver a style of music distinctly different from anything heard or seen in music today. This signature sound and show brings live music to a new, elevated level. BoomBox evolved through the common visualization of a pair of forward thinking artists from diverse musical backgrounds. Raised by supportive and musically inclined parents, both Godchaux and Randolph had an obsession with music at very young ages. Godchaux, who grew up with deeply embedded rock and roll roots, began playing drums at the age of two, and played guitar and wrote his own songs as a teen. During the 90s, Godchaux was a well-received touring DJ based out of the San Francisco area. Randolph began as a young drummer, but it’s what was happening behind the scenes that attracted him most. As much producers as they are musicians, it is Randolph’s understanding of soundscape and Godchaux’s knack for songwriting that keeps BoomBox resonating at higher levels.

Don’t miss it! This is the first time Boombox will be in the Burgh and we don’t want it to be their last!
